Republicans, Democrats Battle For Big Cheese

by LonSeidman

In just three weeks, Wolcott’s politicos will fight for votes to become the big cheese. However, Wednesday night they will be battling each other on a more indimidating challenge: a 28 inch pie filled with cheese, sauce, crust and toppings.

5 Guys Flippin’ Pies owner Bill Accousti is hosting the battle with his large party concoction: The Goliath. “Where else can we find the Democrats and Republicans sitting together for the same cause?” says Accousti. The teams of four will do the eating for charity – the parties will make a donation to Crossroads, a local organization which has a mission to unite the community and create new ways and ideas to combat the drugs afflicting our youth. No school, neighborhood or town is immune from this problem. The losing team will have to donate to the charity. Five Guys Flippin’ Pies will donate ten percent of their daily sales to Crossroads so please order all day. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and donations will be accepted.

The top Republicans will take on the top Democrats to see who the true big cheese in town is. Each party will organize a four person team consisting of the candidates for office. They will have one hour to finish 28 inches of pure intimidation, The Goliath Pizza, which is the party pizza at Five Guys Flippin’ Pies. They thought the challenges in office were tough, wait till they take on this confrontation.

Among the Democrats taking on the challenge are Mayoral candidate Steve Olmstead, Tax Collector Lorraine McQueen and Town Committe Chairman Dave Gentile. The Republican team wasn’t available as of press time.

The public is invited to cheer or jeer Wolcott’s Political Parties or just to have a slice to help Crossroads. The party starts at 6:30 pm at Five Guys Flippin’ Pies 690 Wolcott Road in Wolcott. Seating is limited so come early, have something to eat and be ready for a surprise.
