District 1
Chuck Marsella
Profession:
Former Fire Chief

Dave Gentile
What prompted you to run for office?
I believe that all employees of the town should be held accountable for all aspects of their jobs as they are paid for with taxpayers dollars. I will continue to strive to accomplish this.

What skills and talents do you have that suits you as an ideal candidate for the position you are running for? What makes you the best candidate?
I have over 35 years of computer and financial business experience. I also have a lot of leadership experience in the business world, political world, and in civic organizations. I was captain of my college baseball team; I am a business executive and have served on boards of directors. I was Vice-Chairman of the Town Council for four years.

Locally, I was President of the Wolcott Circle of Sports; and am currently the Chairman of the Democratic Town Committee. All of these attributes combine to give me the experience and leadership skills that I believe make an excellent Councilman. I consider myself to be a quiet leader, with no agenda, able to obtain information about and sort through all aspects of an issue before making an informed, fair decision.

Are there any particular issues or a focus that you will be particularly passionate about?
I am passionate about the town itself and want to see it remain the great town I grew up in. I have lived in Wolcott for over 53 years. I went to Wolcott schools and graduated from Wolcott High. All three of my children are Wolcott High graduates and all three continue to live here in Wolcott. Two are teachers in Wolcott schools. My son in law operates his business in Wolcott. My grandson attends Wakelee School. Needless to say I care greatly about the future of our town and want to see it stay a vibrant community.

Tell us something about your personality that distinguishes you. For example, is there a hobby or interest you have?
I am a sports nut. I love baseball, football, basketball, etc. and try to attend as many WHS games as possible. I coached travel baseball for many years. I also play a lot of golf.

District 2
Francis Masi

Age: undisclosed
Profession: Retired teacher; maitre d at Brass City Bristo

When asked why he is running for Town Council again, Mr. Masi quoted Abe Lincoln:
“When Preparation Meets Opportunity, you have Success”
He often asks about traffic conditions around town and has pushed for turn signals at the Wolcott Rd. traffic light in front of the post office. He also has inquired about the same type or light at the intersection being built at Woodtick Rd. He would like the town to take a look at the bridges around town to ensure they are safe.

Hobbies or interests that distringuish his personality:
Golf, the casino

What prompted you to run for office?
With my previous 19 years experience on the Board of Education, and my previous experiences on Planning and Zoning, Charter Revision (2 times) the Library Building Committee, and the Democratic Town Committee, as well as my education and BA degree in Economics, I believe that I have the leadership skills and knowledge of Town Government to make a good Councilman.
Is there something you want changed or continued?
I would like to see more questions asked and answered prior to making decisions. I would also like to see more attention paid to maintaining the infrastructure of the towns assets on a regular basis, rather than having to make large projects out of replacing what has fallen into disrepair.

What skills and talents do you have that suits you as an ideal candidate for the position you are running for? What makes you the best candidate?
I have served the town in one capacity or another since 1984. I grew up in Wolcott. I have a long history of service. I act professionally and treat people with dignity and respect. I know how to get things done. I have a proven track record. I have a good education. I think that all of those qualities would makes me the best candidate possible.

Are there any particular issues or a focus that you will be particularly passionate about?
I would like to bring to the Council what I have experienced on the Board of Education, which is how to get things done with bipartisan support and to accomplish common goals with the least amount of resources.

Tell us something about your personality that distinguishes you. For example, is there a hobby or interest you have?
I am open minded. I listen to both sides of an issue, and then make decisions based on the best of the relevant information presented. But I will not make a decision on something until I am satisfied that all of my questions have been answered. I am persistent, but I always act in a professional manner. I am interested in making Wolcott a town that we can all be proud of.

District 3
Michael Santagotta

Michael Santogatta

age: 59
Profession: Business & Finance Administrator – Plymouth Board of Education
Contact: 203-879-2969 e-mail: msantogatta@att.net

What prompted you to run for re-election?
I am running for re-election to the Town Council to continue the progress that we, the Democratically controlled Council, have made over the last 2 years. I was honored to Chair the Town Council and give direction and actively participate in the reduction of operating costs, freezing the tax rate for the 3rd straight year, implementing a much needed Blight Ordinance, instituting a new cost effective Pension program, assisting in aggressive back tax collection policies, substantially increasing the Town’s “rainy day reserve” and establishing a strong working relationship with the school district.

What skills and experience makes you an ideal candidate for Town Council?
I believe that I have a very strong command of the Town budget including its revenues and expenditures. I believe that my expertise in Financial operations is critical given the state of the economy and the poor financial condition of State Government

Is there an area or issue you are particularly passionate about?
I am very passionate about cost control and delivering the services that our residents expect as economically as possible.

Tell us something about your personality that distinguishes you. Is there a hobby or interest you have?
*Apart from work and Town government, two things that keep me going are my three grandsons ages 8, 4, 2. I am a collector of LP’s – remember what those were?! – vinyl albums focusing on the late 60’s & early 70’s Rock!
