Furry Resident Roams West Wolcott

If you see one of these, have no fear and go about your normal business. This is not a BEAR. There are Lions in Wolcott, that currently pose no threat.

He’s black, about 200 lbs, and very hungry. If approached, slow down and keep your distance, bring in your dogs and any food.

No, this isn’t the latest suspect for the latest bank robbery (although birdseed and garbage has been known to been taken), but Wolcott’s latest furry resident.

Call To Stop 5 Cent Diesel Tax

The Independent Connecticut Petroleum Association, representing the majority of the state’s 1,400 retail motor fuels outlets that sell gasoline and diesel fuel, called on the General Assembly to repeal the forthcoming 5c per gallon increase in the state’s diesel tax when it meets in Special Session on June 12th. The increase of 5c a gallon in the state’s diesel excise tax is slated to take effect July 1st.

es and institutions, welcomes all to be a part of the very first Greater Danbury Open House Day. Eleven venues representing the Greater Danbury area will be celebrating all it has to offer in the way of its rich history, fine art and interesting culture. Come and bring the kids along to this memorable event with live performances, free art demos, dance classes and even a baseball game.

The main goal for this event is to encourage awareness and pride of the Greater Danbury area’s growing cultural community.

Malloy Vetoes Local Vote Request

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy vetoed a bill Wednesday that would have given local election officials discretion in deciding how many polling locations to open for a party primary. The measure also would have helped cities and towns save money.

In his veto message Malloy said he understands it may have saved municipalities money, but it has the “potential for undermining the right to vote.” That’s largely what made the bill “unacceptable” to him.
