Mark GreenbergBiography

Mark Greenberg is a businessman and entrepreneur born on Long Island, although his parents ran a camp in Goshen CT. He currently lives in Litchfield with his wife and four children. He is Jewish.

After graduating from Cornell University, he founded two companies that latched on to the new field of mobile telephone communications. In fact, his company, Adirondack Mobile Telephone supplied pagers and phones during the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid.

Justin Bernier

Justin Bernier

Biography

37 year old Justin Bernier is the oldest in a family of 9 children. He grew up in Farmington and is an Eagle Scout later attending Fordham University. He earned a master’s degree in International Security and Economic Policy from the University of Maryland and a second degree in Int’l Relations from Georgetown Univerisity.  He lives with his wife Jennie and two daughters in Plainville. They attend St. Patrick’s Church in Farmington.

Bernier’s earlier career was serving as a senior legislative aide to then Congressman Rob Simmons. A Congressional newspaper noted that Bernier “fought doggedly and successfully to save the New London Submarine Base”.

Editorial: Why Roraback Will Alienate Republicans in November

As Republicans decide whom to vote for in August 14th’s primary, they should keep in mind two factors in who to choose as our nominee. Who is most electable? And who has the right foundational principles to LEAD our country through the problems we face today? And if the right candidate has life skills that could lend to working with 434 fellow legislators, all the better. In past years, we’ve selected nominees who have failed in one or the other.

 

In fact, 2009, Roraback and the rest of the Senate Republicans went along with then Gov. Jodi Rell’s proposals to raise taxes, double motor vehicle and licensing fees.

Andrew Roraback

Biography

Andrew Roraback is the 5th generation of his family to live in the northern Litchfield County and comes from a long tradition of Rorabacks schooled in law and politics. One of his relatives, Henry Roraback was the most power Republican from 1912 and 1935, having passed the State Bar without any schooling and also founding CL&P. Another prominent relative is Catherine Roraback who was the lead attorney in the landmark Supreme Court Case Griswold vs. Connecticut. That case established expanded privacy rights under the ‘penumbra of the Constitution” and is given credit for the later Roe v. Wade case in 1972 legalizing abortion.

The profiles below are written by the Wolcott Whisper for Republican candidates. Democratic profiles are done by the staff at the Torrinton Register- Citizen. They are well written and readers can discern the subtle differences and priorities of the candidates.

Each candidate differs more greatly on social issues, as well as the role of government mandates and issues such as the environment. Click on their name to read their profile.
