Guide to Wolcott Churches

by Christopher O'Brien

Wolcott has several faith communities and opportunities for worship. Residents are invited to attend services in town and become active in their faith communities. The town has a history of communal service to all residents through eccumenical services that are held on the Green from time to time. For instance, at 1 pm this Sunday, October 4th there will be a Blessing of the Animals. (Must be vaccinated and on leashes!).

Catholic Services Move, Families Counted

by Christopher O'Brien

The Catholic mass schedule between St. Pius and St. Maria Goretti Churches will be adjusted during the autumn months.

The Saturday 4:00 pm Vigil Mass will be at St. Maria Goretti Church during October, November, and December. The parish councils of both parishes agreed to this quarterly rotation last year when Fr. Kevin Donovan was assigned to minister to both of Wolcott’s Catholic churches. The Saturday mass will return again to St. Pius in January.

Sunday’s 8:30 service at St. Pius X and the 10:30 am service at St. Maria Goretti do not rotate and remain the same.

The weekday 8:00 am mass will remain at St. Pius X. It is more cost efficient to keep that mass there during the cooler months. The lower end of town also receives less snow.
