Catholic Services Move, Families Counted

by Christopher O'Brien

The Catholic mass schedule between St. Pius and St. Maria Goretti Churches will be adjusted during the autumn months.

The Saturday 4:00 pm Vigil Mass will be at St. Maria Goretti Church during October, November, and December. The parish councils of both parishes agreed to this quarterly rotation last year when Fr. Kevin Donovan was assigned to minister to both of Wolcott’s Catholic churches. The Saturday mass will return again to St. Pius in January.

Sunday’s 8:30 service at St. Pius X and the 10:30 am service at St. Maria Goretti do not rotate and remain the same.

The weekday 8:00 am mass will remain at St. Pius X. It is more cost efficient to keep that mass there during the cooler months. The lower end of town also receives less snow.

Census Returns
A census of both parishes is currently underweigh. This assists the archdiocese to appropriate proper pastoral and financial resources to our community. There have been many changes as new families move into town and move out. Children have also grown and begun families or are heads of their own households. Anyone aged 18 or older is asked to register as the head of household and adult in the Catholic Community.
Please contact the appropriate parish to fill out a census form if you have not received one. All Catholics may attend services at either parish and new parishioners are always welcome. If you are looking for a place to worship, you are also invited to attend a mass service.

If you have any questions, contact either Parish Office. SMG- 879-4608, SPX- 879-2544.
