Kate Anderson hugs Mayor Dunn after beginning his 6th term

On a cold Tuesday, the Town’s newly elected leaders were sworn in to their new offices before about 100 townspeople and supporters.

Besides Mayor Thomas G. Dunn who was re-elected for a sixth term, Darlene Tynan was sworn in by former Mayor Edward Wilensky.

Anthony Marino, the first new Town Treasurer in 18 years was also sworn in.

Olmstead Hosts Forum Friday

Steve Olmstead, who is one of two challengers for Mayor is inviting the public to ask him questions during a Town Hall style forum at Wolcott Town Hall Friday. The event will occur at 7 pm.

Olmstead says that he also invited mayoral candidates Tom Dunn and Mike Gugliotti to join him as well. Dunn declined citing previous commitments. It is unknown wehtehr Gugliotti will join him as of Tuesday evening.

Olmstead was the Democratic candidate for mayor in 2011, but this year is running as a Petitioning Candidate.

Legislators Hold Town Hall Meeting Tonight

Sen. Markley and Rep. Sampson will be hosting a Town Hall Meeting in the lower level of Wolcott’s library tonight at 6 pm. Anyone is welcome to attend.

The legislators will be highlighting the bills that passed the General Assembly during this year’s session. The session which includes a two year state budget, ended on June 6th. Gov. Malloy has or is expected to sign most of the legislation into law. The legislators invite the public to give their feedback as well. No RSVP is required.

Senator Murphy To Hold Office Hours

Newly elected US Senator Christopher Murphy’s office has announced town hall meetings around the state. The Senator formerly represented Wolcott as a Congressman and State Senator. The first meeting will take place in Litchfield this Saturday at Wamogo High School from 3:00- 4:30 pm

The next meeting will be Wednesday, February 20th at 7:00 pm in Hamden. The exact location will be announced at a later date.

Lawmakers Host Town Hall Meeting Thursday

State Representative Rob Sampson and State Senator Joe Markley will be hosting a Town Hall meeting Thursday evening from 6- 7:00 at Wolcott’s Town Hall. Any resident is invited to attend and give suggestions for the upcoming legislative session which begins in two weeks. The lawmakers also will give updates on the plan to unionize day care and healthcare workers statewide.

Again, all residents are invited to attend to listen or bring their input.
